Some gardens don’t need a full overhaul—they just need a little vision (and the right shade of grey). Our clients in Remuera wanted to freshen up their small townhouse courtyard without tearing it all up or blowing the budget. The bones were there, but the space was feeling tired and uninspired. Here’s what we did to bring it back to life:

Before Images

Before:
Faded concrete, a weathered fence, and a garden bed that had lost its way. The space felt flat, despite its potential.

After:
We started with the simplest transformation—paint. The existing concrete was sealed in a rich charcoal grey, giving the ground a clean, modern edge and making the greenery really sing. We freshened up the fence with a coat of paint to frame the space and let the planting take centre stage.

Lush greens, silvery foliage, and soft white flowers now bring life and movement to the garden. A few crisp white pots add a contemporary touch and give the whole courtyard a lift.

The result?
A bright, modern outdoor space that feels larger, lighter, and a lot more loved—without major construction or cost.
