This Hobsonville Point backyard started as a blank slate—a plain rectangle of grass doing… not much. The vision? A space that was productive, family-friendly, and beautiful to boot.

Before:
Just lawn. No shade, no structure, and not a lot going on except the occasional mow.

After:
We gave this idle patch of green a purpose.

First up: raised garden beds, perfect for growing fresh veggies and herbs. A bluestone paver pathway winds between the beds, making it easy to access and enjoy the space (no muddy shoes here).

Feijoa trees were planted along the boundary—offering both seasonal fruit and a bit of privacy from the neighbours. We kept some lawn for the kids to play on (because let’s be honest, not everything can be kale). Around the edges, we added flowers chosen to attract pollinators and bring a soft burst of colour.

The result?
A thriving, multi-functional garden that feeds the family, brings in the bees, and still leaves room for cartwheels and cricket games.
