This balcony had the size, but not the soul. It was expansive, open, and underused. The goal was to turn it into a true extension of the home: somewhere to relax, entertain, and spend real time.
Before
Before:
Plenty of square footage, very little atmosphere. No greenery, no focal point, and nothing anchoring the space. It looked fine… but it didn’t invite you to stay.
After:
We layered in structure, comfort, and greenery to give the balcony purpose.
Planters were added throughout to soften the edges and bring the space to life, instantly making it feel more connected to the outdoors and less like an empty deck.
The real transformation came with the pergola and outdoor couch. Together, they turned the balcony from a thoroughfare into a destination. A defined zone for lounging, hosting friends, or stretching out with a coffee and doing absolutely nothing (highly underrated).
Rather than attaching the pergola to the house, a common move, we tucked it neatly into the corner. This kept natural light flowing into the interior while giving the deck a strong, functional focal point that visually ties the whole space together.
The result?
A balcony that finally earns its footprint. Comfortable, cohesive, and designed to be lived in, not just looked at.
